The Giant Thumb

Ask yourself, "Why would anyone make a statue of a giant thumb?" Is it art? Is it a tribute to hitchhikers everywhere? My Mom and Stepdad took this picture on a tour of Germany and Amsterdam and can't remember for sure where it was. They know it was a sculpture garden in a cathedral. If you happen to know the location let me know!
